PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Coded is a collection of paintings by a Korean artist Oh Hyun-young.
In the “Ten Symbols of Longevity” series, the artist incorporated the ten traditional symbols of longevity: sun, clouds, mountains, water, pine trees, turtles, deer, cranes, peaches and herbs of eternal youth, and merged them with contemporary symbols of technological prosperity: barcodes, QR codes and bitcoin.
In the series of “Barcode Landscape,” the artist used barcodes from everyday items in her life to create to create captivating landscapes that draw inspiration from traditional Korean paintings. Through this transformation, the artist escapes from the reality of rigid urban life to the dream of living in harmony with nature.
SHOWS
Oh Hyun-young’s works have been exhibited in Kumho Museum, Kim Bosung Art Center and Gana Art Space in Seoul as well as presented in Busan International Art Fair, Incheon Asia Art Show and Affordable Art Fairs in Amsterdam and Singapore.
